About Us
We share an appreciation for the classic safari Land Rovers, the East African community, and the African wildlife. We recruited a team of local mechanics, craftsmen, and restorers to staff our base of operations in Nairobi, Kenya.
Land Rovers are everywhere in Kenya. The British military, the Kenyan Ministry of Education, and other organizations used Land Rovers to access remote locations across the country and the African continent. Nairobi also boasts an abundance of skilled, and unfortunately underworked, mechanics who love classic Land Rovers as much as we do…probably more. Prior to Safari Land Rovers, many on the team worked in aircraft maintenance, restoring and maintaining airplanes.
We are now a year and a half into the process and we have a Series I, II, III, and a couple of Defender 90 & 110s under restoration. Each one has its own incredible history and we look forward to sharing them along with some of the highlights, as well as some of the challenges, from the restoration process. And, of course, showcase the adventures that these Land Rovers are now living.
Mission
Restore classic safari and utility Land Rovers for fellow enthusiasts in North America while helping to support and give back to the East African community. As part of our efforts, we donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale to Usikimye, a Nairobi-based charity. Usikimye is in the Soweto Slums and focused on women and girls, who are survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
A little bit goes extremely far.
Usikimye’s Mission: Usikimye is a survivor-centered and trauma-informed community-based organization providing services to women and girls who are survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence and preventing violence against women and girls by transforming societal norms and cultures that enable it.
